I was assigned to create a short animation for Nintendo, celebrating Super Mario’s 40th anniversary. I wanted the animation to have a retro feel, like someone looking at a Nintendo archive from the Past. In the beginning, the animation opens to a Nintendo retro dot matrix screen, outlining the different parts of the Gameboy and the different functions for each button. I then zoomed into the Gameboy screen, where a Mario character walked across the screen, revealing the Nintendo logo. I added textures, shadows, and highlights using expressions and texture overlays to stylize the animation a bit more.
